Job summary

The Room Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the pre-school nursery room, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This position requires strong management and leadership skills to guide staff and support children's development through engaging activities. The ideal candidate will possess experience in childcare and early childhood education, along with excellent communication abilities to foster positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.

Duties

  • Supervise and manage daily activities within the nursery room, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Lead and support a team of childcare practitioners, providing guidance and training as needed. This role will also be considered 3rd in charge in the nursery.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate educational programmes that promote children's physical, emotional, and social development.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
  • Organise daily schedules, including playtime, meals, and rest periods to create a balanced routine for children.
  • Monitor children's behaviour and provide guidance to ensure a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive team atmosphere focused on the well-being of all children in care.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the nursery space to provide a welcoming environment for children.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • SVQ level 3 or equivalent. Desirable
  • SVQ level 4 or PDA or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in a nursery or early childhood education setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in childcare is required.
  • Excellent communication skills in English
