Job summary

Little Strides Day Nursery & Preschool (Roehampton, London)

Position: Deputy Manager

Reports to: Nursery Manager 

Responsible for: All children, parents and visitors of the nursery

Purpose: To provide the highest standard of compliance, care and education for children, and effectively manage daily operations of the nursery, including positive partnerships with staff and parents.

The Role:
As Deputy Manager, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager to:

  • Ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can thrive.

  • Support and guide staff, leading by example and encouraging professional growth.

  • Uphold high standards in safeguarding, compliance, and early years practice.

  • Build strong partnerships with parents and carers, ensuring clear and supportive communication.

  • Contribute to the smooth running of the nursery, from daily operations to community engagement.

About You:
You’ll bring a strong knowledge of the EYFS, experience in early years leadership, and a genuine passion for helping children and staff reach their full potential. With excellent communication and organisational skills, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our nursery.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification – Essential
  • Sound knowledge of the statutory framework for the EYFS and regulatory requirements – Essential
  • Over 1 year’s experience working in Early Years – Essential
  • Fluent in written and spoken English at GCSE grade C (or equivalent) – Essential
  • Level 5 qualification in Childcare and/or Management and Leadership – Desirable
  • Over 1 year’s experience working in a management position – Desirable
  • Experience of successfully passing an Ofsted inspection to good or outstanding – Desirable
