Nursery Manager – Maternity Cover (9–12 Months Contract)

Job Summary
Playtime Daycare Dagenham is looking for an experienced, confident Nursery Manager to provide maternity cover for a period of 9–12 months. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in managing a nursery to high standards and working towards Ofsted Outstanding outcomes. The manager will ensure the smooth operation of the setting, leading on safeguarding, staffing, EYFS delivery, and parent partnership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the full operational management of the nursery, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.

• Lead and inspire a high-performing team to deliver exceptional education and care.

• Drive continuous improvement, reflective practice, and high-quality teaching in line with EYFS.

• Manage safeguarding across the nursery, acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

• Maintain robust systems for audits, risk assessments, health & safety, and Ofsted compliance.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, external agencies, and the local community.

• Oversee administrative processes including staffing, rotas, payroll cut-off support, budgeting awareness, and occupancy targets.

• Ensure the environment remains engaging, safe, inclusive, and high-quality at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

• Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5+ strongly preferred).

• Previous experience as a Nursery Manager or Deputy Manager.

• Strong leadership, safeguarding, and organisational skills.

• Excellent knowledge of EYFS, SEND Code of Practice, and Ofsted expectations.

• Confident communicator with strong parent partnership experience.
