Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Room Leader to join our dynamic Early Years team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in delivering exceptional childcare and education, ensuring that children thrive in a stimulating and safe environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, and the ability to inspire and support a team of practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare and Education:
- Plan and implement educational activities aligned with the EYFS framework.
- Ensure each child’s developmental needs are met and track progress through observations and assessments.
- Create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and supervise a team of nursery practitioners, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Mentor and support team members to foster collaboration and high morale.
- Organise routines and allocate tasks effectively within the room.
Parental Engagement:
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents, building strong and trusting relationships.
- Provide regular updates on children’s progress and address any concerns.
- Participate in meetings with parents to discuss individual development plans.
Health and Safety:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure the room adheres to safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards to safeguard children and staff.
- Implement safeguarding measures to protect the welfare of all children.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of children’s development, attendance, and incidents.
- Prepare detailed reports and updates for parents and management as required.
- Stay informed about changes to the EYFS framework and implement best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Education).
- Significant experience in an early years setting, with leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development principles.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A passionate leader with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
