Safety at Pear Tree Nursery is paramount. The main entrance has always been to the rear of the nursery and all parents are informed of this at the initial show round. This parent was unhappy that we asked her to use the rear of the nursery to ensure the safety of the children and we feel the review is a result of this. The car park does not have pedestrian access and, similar to schools, to ensure the safety of the children it is only for staff use. The walk to the rear of the property is approximately one minute. Our nursery follows the guidance set by Education Scotland and the Care Inspectorate with regards to learning. Two-year-old children learn through play and they should not be in a structured learning environment and we agree that if this is what parents seek, this is not the nursery for your child. As Albert Einstein said, “ Play is the highest form of research”. Being out in the community has many benefits for children, they are learning whilst out and we pride ourselves on having such a strong link with our local community.
