Thank you for bringing these points of concern to our attention. We work very hard to ensure that our Nursery offers the highest standards of care in a nurturing environment and so immediately addressed all these concerns as soon as they were raised to us in order to bring improvement.
• We apologise unreservedly that your child was fed sausages. This error should have never occurred and we have reviewed our procedures to make sure it can’t happen again.
• There appears to be a case of mistaken identity as our Nursery Manager does not smoke. All staff members have been reminded of our smoking policy. This clearly states not only that staff must not smoke on our premises, but that they must not smoke while in uniform. We hope that an incident of staff smoking on premises or while in uniform never occurs, but should this happen our team is clear on our policy and likely consequences of such a breach.
• We are unable to identify with the atmosphere you have described as this is in sharp contrast to the comments received from other visitors to our setting. Daily, age-appropriate activities are planned for all children. While from time to time children may become upset, at Little Learners each child is allocated a key worker who ensures that they are nurtured and comforted in those difficult moments. Nevertheless, we have taken all your observations on board and are providing some additional training to staff.
• If parents are ever concerned about the amount that their child is eating during the day, we encourage them to speak to their child’s keyworker and ask to see the meal records.
We always find it best if we work in partnership with parents so that all concerns about a child’s welfare can be resolved quickly.
