I wish there was an alternative not to charge parents during non-funded period. But unfortunately there is none at the moment. We need the funds to be able to pay staff wages, annual leave payments, which are a legal requirement and other expenses required to keep the nursery open. The funding from the Government is helps but it does not cover all the immediate cost of running a childcare setting, hence we have to charge parents for those remaining weeks that is not paid by the Government.
