I wish there was an alternative not to charge parents during the non-funded period. But unfortunately, there is none at the moment. We need the funds to be able to pay staff wages, annual leave payments, which is a legal requirement and other expenses required to keep the nursey open. The funding from the Government helps, but it does not cover all the immediate costs of running a childcare setting, hence we have to charge parents for those remaining weeks that are not paid by the Government.
