We are truly sorry that your experience with Little Dragons was so distressing, and we fully recognise how upsetting this period must have been for you and your family. The incident involving your son had a profound and lasting impact on our entire team, and we continue to reflect deeply on what occurred. We took immediate action following the incident and cooperated fully with both the Police and OFSTED. The staff member found to have breached our safety protocols was promptly removed from the setting, and we carried out a thorough internal review.
In November 2024, Ofsted issued a temporary suspension of our registration. During this period, we undertook a comprehensive programme of review, retraining, and reform. With the support of external consultants, we strengthened our leadership team and implemented a range of improvements to our policies, practices, and culture, including:
• Whole-team retraining in policies, paediatric first aid, safeguarding, and emergency procedures.
• A full review and update of all risk assessments and daily care routines.
• Appointment of new senior staff, including a Deputy Manager and additional leadership capacity.
• Strengthened incident reporting and peer-review systems to promote accountability.
• Daily health and safety checks, dynamic risk assessments, and designated safety leads in each room.
• Ongoing oversight and support from independent early years consultants.
Although the suspension was initially for a period of six weeks, our registration was reinstated within two weeks following the provision of necessary assurances to OFSTED. Since reopening in December 2024, we have remained fully committed to embedding these improvements and restoring confidence in our provision.
We respect your decision to share your experience. Transparency is an important part of early years care, and we support the right of families to make informed choices based on open and honest information.
As a small, family-run nursery, we carry a deep sense of responsibility for the children entrusted to our care. Whilst we cannot change what has happened, we are resolute in our commitment to ensuring such an incident is never repeated. We continue working every day to uphold the trust placed in us by our families.
We send our very best wishes to your son and your family.
