At Little Dragons Day Nursery, we welcome feedback as an invaluable tool in helping us to continually strive for excellence for children in our care and their families. We do however feel that when a review is simply inaccurate and untrue, we must defend our small family business and the fantastic team who work for us.
• We cared for the child for 13 months and during this period we did not receive any form of complaint prior to this review. The family decided to withdraw their child in February, and we have had no correspondence since. We spoke with the family when they made this decision to leave, and they thanked us for all we had done for them during their time with us.
• We suspect that this spiteful review has been instigated by external factors that have come to light recently and are unfortunately beyond our control.
• To ensure the safety of our nursery community, a meeting was arranged to discuss reducing the number of attended hours. This is in line with our policies and procedures to help support every individual child’s needs. The parents agreed to this approach and subsequently, our manager worked on a 1:1 basis. It was explained that the 1:1 care could not be sustained and that the long-term plan was to integrate the child back into the nursery safely on a 1:8 ratio as per the ratio requirements.
• The January Invoice clearly shows a reduction in fees to account for the reduced hours the child attended. Normal fees resumed in February in line with their revised attendance pattern. At the beginning of February, the parents decided to withdraw the child from our setting. Our Ts&Cs require 1 month's notice and as such the parents were charged accordingly.
• Our manager sustained physical injuries due to being kicked and punched and was therefore crying in pain. This is not unprofessional; this is a natural human reaction when exposed to physical injury.
• Both staff and management are aligned in their approach in providing daily feedback which includes both positive and negative (when necessary) aspects of a child’s day as per our Promoting Positive Behaviour Policy. Serious incidents were also sent to the parents via our communication app as an incident report.
• We encourage prospective parents to review the 40 plus truthful reviews on this site. Please come along for a nursery tour, where you can see for yourself the service we provide for the children in our care. In November 2023 we were rated ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED.
We genuinely put our all into the service we provide at Little Dragon’s and strongly believe in the benefits of working with parents as partners. We wish this family all the very best for the future.
