Fairytales and classic stories at Twyford Day Nursery

World Book Day has been marked at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford.

Preschool themed their Book Day celebrations around their favourite story, Little Red Riding Hood.

Cedar Park’s award-winning 82-year-old practitioner Colleen Kirk, dressed for the occasion whilst other employees dressed as different characters from the classic fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood.

Children helped to co-produce a staged rendition of Little Red Riding Hood using memorable lines from the story and ‘what happens next?’ cues.

Cedar Park’s Qualified Preschool Teacher Sonia Hidalgo-Martin said

“From the traditional fairy tales to more modern classics, all reading is good for children and it’s something we encourage throughout a child’s journey with us. It was great to welcome children dressed as their favourite characters and to share group story time and role play with them.

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrator’s, books and reading and is celebrated annually in over 100 different countries.
