A would-be nursery practitioner at Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford is not only being celebrated during National Apprentice Week she is providing a role model for local school leavers.
Praising Imogen Newall (17) an apprentice at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ day nursery in Bridge Farm Road, for her contributions and treating her to a special lunch and flowers, Area Manager Emma Kemp also spoke about her at a local secondary school and is now sifting through applications for positions at the nursery.
The Early Years careers talk at Piggott Secondary School in Twyford was just one of the events to mark National Apprenticeship Week at Cedar Park where Imogen is not only benefitting from increased study time away from nursery but also a full range of training opportunities.
“I want all our apprentices to be ambitious about their careers with us and confident that our training and mentoring programmes will help them to develop, personally and professionally, within our organisation,” said Emma Kemp.
“As employee owners, we are all invested in each other and ensuring that the children in our care receive the best possible start in life. Talented, skilled and ambitious young people on clearly defined career paths will get us there,” she added.
The message was well received at Piggott Secondary School as the nursery is now looking at three applications for seasonal positions and interest from potential apprentices.
Imogen, who joined Cedar Park last September, is described as enthusiastic, dedicated, and a popular member of the staff team who deserved recognition for her invaluable contributions to nursery life.
She was treated to a bouquet of flowers at the nursery staff meeting and was taken out to lunch.
“I love my job and I am happy and proud to be a member of this team. They have all supported and encouraged me in my studies and praised me when I have done well. That is why this is such a surprise,” said Imogen, who is due to qualify as a Level 3 practitioner in September.
Cedar Park Day Nursery is part of the award-winning, employee-owned company the Childbase Partnership which has 41 day nurseries in the South of England and was one of only 160 UK organisations rated ‘Extraordinary’ by Best Companies in 2017.
