Chopsticks and traditional Chinese writing are just some of the attractions at Sandfield Day Nursery in Oxford during a week-long celebration to mark the Chinese New Year.
The children at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ nursery in Headington have immersed themselves in Chinese culture. They have been learning nursery rhymes, looking at books and listening to traditional music. Nursery Manager Kim Hambridge said:
"The Chinese New Year offers a fantastic opportunity for to children to learn about different cultures and traditions. The children have writing in traditional Chinese characters and tasting food in the nursery in celebration of this important festival which is observed by people across the world."
Kim added that staff and children were now looking forward to a year of wisdom, beauty, intelligence, pride and joy having satisfied all the traditional requirements for the start of a Chinese New Year.
