Everyone has their favourite book and at Kiddi Caru’s Whiteley day nursery the children got to spend the day reading and sharing theirs to mark Read A Book Day this week (6th September).
Read A Book Day encourages young and old alike to pick up their favourite book and dedicate the whole day to reading. The children and staff brought books in from home and also spent time in the nursery’s library finding new stories to read to each other and talk about.
Kate Gracz, Nursery Manager, said: “Reading is not only important to help children develop their literacy and reading skills, but also to encourage them to discuss their ideas and feelings about the different stories they read with each other, their parents and their carers. We hope that by celebrating events like Read A Book Day the children will develop a life long love of reading.”
