Children, practitioners and families at Edwalton Day Nursery in Nottingham have marked Diwali with a week long programme creative activities.
The children at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Melton Road explored the festival using books and resources. They also enjoyed henna painting with traditional patterns on their hands.
Nursery Manager Sarah Johnson said:
“At Edwalton we mark a range of different cultural and religious events throughout the year. This helps to give children a broad understanding of the world around them and celebrates diversity.”
Diwali is one of the world’s largest religious celebrations which is marked in India and across the world. Also known as The Festival of Lights, the event symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
