Tutor support, flexibility and a nursery work placement were all key to Laura Ross' achievement of the Level 2 Certificate in Childcare.
Not only was Laura the first learner to complete the course offered by Smart Training as soon as it was launched she also finished a month ahead of schedule due to her own hard work and the support of her tutor Victoria.
"I just asked my tutor for extra work and worked whenever I had the time," said Laura, who was 19 at the time and has now also completed her Level 3 Diploma. "Victoria was lovely, easy to talk to and whenever I had a problem or needed help she would be there to help me at all times."
Laura studied one day a week while carrying out a two-day work placement at Fareacres Nursery in South Woodford, London, where she secured a full-time job thanks to her qualification.
"Doing the Smart Training course one day a week was really helpful, especially while I had my placement at the nursery. It made the work easier as I was able to put into practice what I'd learned."
