An exciting new nursery and pre-school is opening its doors to Preston’s little ones on Monday 4th September.
Fern Bank Private Day Nursery on Sharoe Green Lane in Fulwood is set to provide high-quality childcare and education for children aged 0 – 5.
The Ofsted registered nursery - which is directly opposite Preston College - is separated into two spacious buildings: one for babies up to the age of 2, and another with separate playrooms for toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Babies joining the nursery in September will be surrounded by soothing rocking chairs, cosy cots, fun dens and brand new stimulating toys - all placed at their eye level. Soft tigers, snakes, elephants and lions await the babies in a spectacular Jungle Room filled with sparkling lights and giant ferns.
The large baby building has a secure grassy garden and numerous exciting playrooms where Preston’s little ones can crawl in a safe, cosy environment that’s full of fun.
To the rear of the nursery is a separate pre-school with exciting educational toys and resources including a large sandpit ship, computer equipment, art stations and roleplay areas. The pre-school even has its own real life mini-kitchen where children will learn to cook healthy meals in a kitchen with work surfaces, furniture, kitchen tools and chef hats just their size.
Children at the nursery will play outdoors every day in a fabulous grassy outdoor area which comes complete with tunnels, an enchanted cabin, a water wall, bug hotel, mud kitchen and sandpit.
As well as state-of-the-art playrooms, a brand new kitchen has been installed at the nursery where the Nursery Chef will freshly prepare nutritious and delicious food each day.
Fern Bank children will enjoy a healthy seasonal menu - which has been awarded a Bronze Catering Mark from the Soil Association - filled with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish.
Delicious dishes from the menu include ‘Salmon Tikka with Red Pepper Sauce and Brown Rice’ and ‘Sweet and Sticky Orange Chicken and Cauliflower with Noodles’.
All meals and snacks are low in fat, salt and sugar and can be altered to suit any dietary needs - from religious requirements and vegetarianism, to allergies and intolerances.
As Fern Bank is part of the Just Childcare family of day nurseries, children will also benefit from its exclusive ‘Just Nature Days’ programme, which focuses on teaching children through exploration of the great outdoors.
Jacqueline Johnson of Just Childcare said, “We’re so proud of our fabulous nursery and pre-school and can’t wait to open its doors to Preston’s little ones.
“A number of parents have already booked their child’s place with us, and we’re looking forward to meeting even more families in the coming weeks.”
The nursery’s qualified team of childcare professionals will be providing care and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) learning activities based on each individual’s child’s likes, interests and needs.
Staff hold NVQs in Childcare, paediatric first aid certificates, safeguarding training and have all undergone enhanced DBS checks.
Modern security systems are in place to ensure children’s safety, including CCTV in all rooms and secure door entry into all of the nursery buildings.
The nursery also has an off-road carpark to allow parents to drop off and collect their little ones each day.
