The Class of 2017 says ‘Goodbye’

It was an emotional ‘farewell’ at Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St Albans as staff said goodbye to their graduating class with a red carpet ceremony on the bandstand at Clarence Park.

The graduates of the nursery in York Road, who wore special mortar board hats and gowns for the ceremony, collected certificates cheered on by parents.

Nursery Manager April Hughes said:

“It’s always emotional to watch the children you have cared for, ready to move on. Today we can celebrate the fact that our children are happy, confident and ready for the next exciting steps in their learning journey,” she said adding that saying ‘goodbye’ was very difficult.

Grasshoppers Day Nursery has a comprehensive School Readiness Programme which aims to prepare children for their transitions into education. The graduation ceremony is a celebration in how far the children have progressed over the year and brings the nursery community together in congratulations.
