Outdoor play has always been a key focus of Cedar Park Day Nursery in Twyford. Set in large, rural, picturesque grounds the nursery is thrilled to be launching its very own Forest School for the children in its care.
Forest School is all about promoting an outdoor focused curriculum. It aims to foster an early appreciation of the natural world and learning skills such as resilience, confidence and independence. Preschool children will be focusing on the ‘rules of the forest’ as well as ‘working together to use tools’ over the coming weeks. They will be experiencing activities such as building a piece of equipment and cooking over a fire.
Rachael Main, Cedars Park’s Qualified Forest School Leader said:
“I am delighted to be able to provide Forest School sessions at Cedar Park Day Nursery. Studies have shown that children learn well when outdoors and I have seen how Forest School captivates children’s curiosity and imagination. I am looking forward to introducing a programme of activities that makes good use of the fantastic facilities at the nursery.”
