The children, staff and parents at Wellingborough Pre-Prep School raised £1,404 by taking part in a sponsored walk the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children. Around 150 children and teaching staff took part in the walk around the school grounds on Friday 23 June, and all of the children received a medal when they had completed the walk.
The fundraising was for the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, which is creating a Bright Space garden at a domestic violence refuge in Northampton. All the funds raised will be used to purchase equipment for the garden, which is being transformed into an enriching and fun play space, for children living in the refuge to enjoy. Emily Harris, Foundation Development Manager for the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children said, “We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the school and families who have supported us. The funds raised will really help us to create a special place for traumatised children who are victims of domestic violence. I am looking forward to coming to see the children next term to show them the new garden, which officially opens on 18 August.”
Jocelyn Everett, Headteacher of Wellingborough Pre-Prep said, “Every child, from Nursery to Year 3, loved doing the walk and they were all very proud of how much money they had raised.”
