A very slow visitor

There's always lots of toddling at High Bank Daty Nursery, but a recent visitor took going slow to another level entirely!

The visitor in question was Rubes, a tortoise. Children in tweenies, toddlers and pre-school enjoyed stroking Rubes and learning more about the diet and habits of a tortoise.

Hayley Grainger, High Bank Day Nursery Manager, said: “Being on a working farm, the children get to see lots of animals but for many this will have been the first time they had seen a tortoise close up and they loved seeing Rubes.

“It’s important that from a very early age, children get to have lots of new experiences and visits from animals are a great way of helping their learning and development.”
