A six foot eagle baring daffodils got a warm welcome from pre-schoolers preparing for Mother’s Day at Pennypot Day Nursery in Chobham on Friday.
Eggbert, the Eagle Radio Mascot, and ‘drive time DJ’ Lewis Mason were surprise visitors to the nursery in Pennypot Lane providing flowers for the children to give to their mothers on their special day.
Pennypot Manager, Jane Waterhouse, said the visit was a lovely treat for the children who were praised by the local celebrities for their lovely hand-crafted cards and gifts of primula plants for their mothers.
“Despite very busy lives Pennypot mothers are wonderfully supportive of all nursery activities. Mother’s Day gives us all a chance to make them feel special with as many treats as we can muster. That is why the children were so happy to have the daffodils to add to their Mother’s Day gifts,” she said.
Bev Hunter, co-presenter of Eagle Radio Breakfast Show, said the annual event of visiting pre-schoolers and giving them daffodils for their mothers was a highlight in the radio station’s calendar.
“This is about celebrating community, love and kindness and where better to do that than with pre-schoolers preparing to honour their mothers. It seems particularly important this year in the light of recent events at Westminster,” she said.
