Creating an active volcano is just one of the “stimulating learning experiences” that helped make Woodlands Day Nursery in High Barnet one of the best in the country according to Ofsted.
Describing the quality of teaching as “highly inspiring” and rating the day nursery in Orchard Road as Outstanding – which is achieved by only 15 per cent of early years settings nationwide – the Ofsted inspector said: "Staff provide excellent opportunities for the children to experience a stimulating and engaging curriculum. Children make exceptional progress and thrive within this welcoming and warm environment."
He added that the bonds between staff and children were exceptionally strong and that that partnerships with parents were highly effective.
The rating sparked celebrations at the nursery where Manager Melina Koulakis praised her staff for their professionalism and dedication, and parents for their unfailing support.
“We are all committed to giving our children the very best start in life and it is this team work over many years that has made Woodlands outstanding. Ofsted making it official is absolutely wonderful but the real reward is seeing our happy, confident children realising their potential every day in nursery.” she said.
