A Leighton Buzzard day nursery has been rated ‘one of the best’ in the country after “intuitive staff” and their “high-quality teaching” impressed an Ofsted inspector.
Cedars Day Nursery in Mentmore Road has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted - which is achieved by only 15 per cent of all English early years providers – sparking celebrations amongst children, staff and parents.
Manager, Michelle Nokes, said the glowing Ofsted report was recognition of a daily pursuit of excellence by everybody associated with the day nursery, which would continue regardless of the top rating.
“The talent, skill and dedication of my staff team is matched by the enthusiastic and wholehearted support of our parents, and as a result our children thrive. We love what we do and are enormously proud of our children and their achievements,” said Michelle.
In her report, the Ofsted inspector said that “intuitive” staff understand and respect that children learn in many different ways and that all, from babies to pre-schoolers, are immersed in purposeful activity while they explore and experiment.
“Exceptionally high-quality leadership drives an ambitious and focused staff team,” she said, adding that children make considerable progress and are very well prepared for their move to school.
“Children are encouraged to take on tasks that challenge them. They climb a low ladder to collect fruit from the tree and play hide and seek in the hedgerow. Children are becoming competent individuals,” she said.
