The children and staff at Kiddi Caru Matford Green earned their baking stripes this week when they spent the day making all things pizza related for National Pizza Day.
As well as making traditional pizzas with dough the children got to see exactly how the pizzas cook thanks to the nursery’s special child friendly oven, which can be moved from room to room. The staff provided a selection of tasty toppings, and the children could either choose their favourites or get creative and combine different flavours to make their own unique recipe.
Amanda Vardy, Nursery Manager, said: “Cooking activities are wonderful learning opportunities for children – they include a bit of science, lots of creativity. With our special child-friendly oven the children can really get involved in the cooking process and they especially enjoyed watching the pizza dough rise in the oven. We talked a lot about where pizzas were invented and also about our favourite toppings. The whole nursery smelled amazing all day!”
