Hand crafted lanterns; Chinese writing and cuisine were just some of the attractions at Edwalton Day Nursery in Nottingham, during a week-long celebration to mark the Chinese New Year.
The children at the Ofsted-rated Outstanding day nursery have immersed themselves in Chinese culture. They have been learning about different types on Chinese food and learning to use chopsticks, enjoying a tasty dish of sweet and sour chicken. They have also been practising to use Chinese letters and have produced some fantastic examples on display.
Nursery Manager Sarah Johnson said: "The Chinese New Year offers a fantastic opportunity for to children to learn about different cultures and traditions. The children have enjoyed decorating the nursery in celebration of this important festival which is observed by people across the world."
Sarah added that staff and children were now looking forward to a year of wisdom, beauty, intelligence, pride and joy having satisfied all the traditional requirements for the start of a Chinese New Year.
