The children and staff at Kiddi Caru Wellingborough have been exploring different emotions this week.
By creating wooden spoons featuring lots of different facial expressions the staff and children were able to understand their own emotions and feelings.
The children spent time looking in the mirror and making faces to match the expressions on the spoons and the emotions they convey.
Emma Whitworth, Nursery Manager, said: “Understanding emotions underpins a wide area of learning for the children, particularly creativity and imagination.
“Expressing emotions also supports important transition times such as arriving at nursery and visiting a new environment, helping children to settle more easily into a new and different environments. In fact the children so enjoyed using the emotional spoons that they asked if they could take them home to talk about their feelings with their families.”
