Children at Bright Horizons Timperley Day Nursery and Preschool in Cheshire have visited a local care home for elderly residents with dementia.
The children visited Allingham House after staff had been inspired by a story from Seattle in the United States, where a similar home is visited by up to 125 young children every week.
Nursery Manager Janette Schenk said the visit benefited the children in learning how to relate and embrace others whilst having a positive attitude towards them. She also said the visit helped to develop the children’s confidence and nurtured their social and emotional development.
She added that the children are going to regularly visit Allingham House in order to share stories, games and to sing songs with the residents.
