Preschoolers and staff at Westwood Day Nursery are celebrating after being rated one of the best early learning centres in the country for a second time.
Balloons, banners and bunting decorated the day nursery in Westwood Business Park, for a party to celebrate another top Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating - which is achieved by only 15 per cent of all UK Early Years providers – following a surprise inspection.
Westwood Manager, Beverley Sharpe, who was praised for strong leadership, said:
“It is a very proud moment for every member of this dedicated team. They are always looking for ways in which to give all our children the best possible nursery experience and preparation for mainstream schooling, and that is clearly evident in this marvellous Ofsted report.”
She praised parents for their support all year around and on the day of the inspection when they sought out the inspector and impressed her with their 'overwhelmingly complimentary' comments.
The Ofsted inspector described the range of learning experiences as superb; staff as passionate and praised everything from the good health promoted at the nursery - with all-weather outdoor learning areas and nutritional, freshly cooked meals - to the support given to children with English as a second language.
The nursery introduced the ‘Mantra Lingua’ system at the end of last year which makes books, posters, stickers and cards in nursery ‘talk’, with the aid of special stickers and ‘talker pens’, to support children with English as a second language, and introduce others to another language.
“The superb range of learning experiences successfully motivates and inspires young minds. Children are highly confident learners and they thoroughly relish their learning,” said the inspector in her report.
“While we have a number of celebrations planned to mark this wonderful achievement, we are working towards another ‘Outstanding’ rating in the next three-to-five years,” said Beverley Sharpe.
