Choosing a nursery can be a daunting task for parents. With this in mind, St George's Nursery Edinburgh have designed a Nursery Open Afternoon, Friday 10 June 1.30 - 3.00 pm, so that you may find out more about their pre-school provision, meet the staff and have a tour of the nursery facilities.
To help answer any questions you may have, you are welcome to attend a short talk, at 1.40 pm (prompt start), about the importance of a good quality nursery education.
Staff would like to tell you about the extensive Outdoor Learning programme, and your child can take part in an outdoor activity in the 'Fantastical Forest'. Outdoor learning, with its practical and adventurous hands-on approach to discovery in an outside environment, is a crucial component of the nursery and junior school provision.
On your nursery tour, all the facilities will be in action and you will see the nursery girls and boys enjoying themselves in PE, drama, and music.
The nursery welcomes girls and boys from 2 years with boys admitted up to the end of pre-school at the age of 4 - 5 years. Wrap-around care is available all-year round for all children from 7.45 am and until 6.00 pm, offering flexibility to busy parents.
The nursery, located in the Junior School at St George’s School for Girls, is an integral part of the school and is staffed by a highly qualified team of early education professionals.
There are a limited number of nursery places available now and for the autumn term. If you are interested in applying for a place, please contact the admissions department. They offer free nursery taster sessions to help you with your decision.
In a full school inspection by Education Scotland in 2015, the school was awarded the highest possible grading of 'excellent' in three categories. An 'excellent' rating was given to the school's curriculum (including the nursery), improvement through self-evaluation and also for performance (which covers examination results, attainment and achievement further up the school).
If you would like to attend the Open Afternoon please contact Karen Batty in the admissions department at the school. You can also book a place to attend on the schools website.
