Everybody at Grasshoppers Day Nursery in St. Albans was celebrating on Friday as their employee-owned company was rated ‘Extraordinary’ and named, for the 10th year running, a top UK business to work for.
Balloons decorated the nursery in Mentmore Road for a tea party for staff and children celebrating a listing in ‘The Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For’ Lists.
As Grasshoppers Manager, Claire Heath, explained: “It is a very personal achievement because we are all employee owners and what we say really does make a difference. When you are committed to giving young children the very best start in life, a happy supported staff team is vital.”
Grasshoppers Day nursery is part of the award-winning group, Childbase Partnership, the UK’s 10th largest employee-owned business, which has 44 day nurseries in the South of England. One of only 165 UK organisations to achieve three-star ‘Extraordinary’ accreditation by Best Companies – for the fifth year running - Childbase Partnership was also rated ‘Best’ for its charity and environmental initiatives beating nearly 950 organisations to the ‘Giving Something Back’ special award.
Practitioners attending the London awards ceremony also took home a trophy for ‘Making the world a better workplace for 10 Years’ and the company was rated 21st in the prestigious lists.
“Ofsted inspectors have told us repeatedly that a happy and engaged staff team equals happy children. Our pride in our nursery and our company is reflected in our happy and confident children and there is nothing more rewarding or satisfying than that,” said Claire, who ran the Chicago Marathon for charity last year.
