Children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Day nursery in Redhill are all getting ready to Shimmy with Timmy in order to raise funds for Sport Relief this year.
On Friday 18th March the children will be dressing up as animals to take part in a special Shimmy with Timmy Music & Movement session, performing a variety of songs including their favourites. As they are being sponsored the more they shimmy the more they will raise for Sport Relief! The older children have been learning the ‘Step It Up For Sport Relief’ dance and will be performing this on the day, with the most original dancer winning a special prize.
The staff are also getting involved, and will be doing their own Shimmy with Timmy dance routine throughout the day to entertain the children. Helen Atkins, Nursery Manager, has even been challenged to perform as many Shimmy with Timmy dance moves as she can in a minute in return for sponsorship.
Sport Relief is one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events encouraging people to get involved in lots of sporty activities to raise cash and change lives. The money raised is spent by the charity to help people living incredibly tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.
Helen Atkin said: “Timmy is one of the children’s favourite characters and incorporating him into our fund raising event is a brilliant idea. We are all ready to dance the day away on the 18th March and I hope that we are able to raise lots of money for this worthwhile charity at the same time.”
