Bramingham kids celebrating the Year of Monkey

Carton boxes and lots of bright, sparkly paper were used to create a fierce Chinese dragon as the children from Bright Horizons Bramingham Day Nursery and Preschool (recently renamed from kidsunlimited) celebrated Chinese New Year in style.

The children were told that it is the Year of the Monkey, as staff explained the story of the Chinese zodiac and how the Monkey finished in 9th place. After the story the children took part in an obstacle course to cross the river wearing headbands of the twelve Chinese animals and played on the handmade Chinese drums.

Nursery Manager, Claire Green, explained why the nursery celebrations and festivals from across the world, “The children in our nursery love learning about new countries and cultures, activities like this encourage the children to build on their natural interest and curiosity of the wider world around them.”
