Jeffrey’s Corner Dukinfield raised £700 for Tameside East Foodbank and the Harebell Suite at Tameside Hospital. The nursery held a Christmas fair on Saturday 28 November with lots of activities for children including Santa’s Grotto, face painting, tombola, cupcake decorating refreshments and more. Jeffrey’s Corner are always looking for ways to help within the local community in which they are situated.
The Tameside East foodbank rely on food donations to feed local people in crisis. From April 2014 to March 2015 Tameside East Foodbank gave out parcels of 3 days food to 3,494 people (2,361 adults and 1,133 children). The weight of food distributed during this period was just over 30 tonnes, all donated by individuals, local churches (all faiths) and businesses.
Tameside East Foodbank said “Thank you so much for this generous donation which will help to support the work of the foodbank. Tameside East Foodbank has been running now for 3 years and in that time we have been able to provide food for approximately 9,000 people. We have centres in Ashton, Dukinfield and Stalybridge staffed by volunteers. Your kind donation will help to support this work “
Harebell Suite, which is in the Maternity Unit within Tameside Hospital, is used by bereaved parents as a private, dedicated room to grieve. The Harebell suite also provides an infant bereavement support group, an annual remembrance service, a baby funeral service, a book of condolence and a baby foot and handprint service. Tameside Hospital said “It was lovely to meet you last week to receive the donation of £350 for the Harebell Fund.
The Harebell Suite is a self-contained unit dedicated for use by families who have sadly lost babies. It comprises of a bedroom, lounge, kitchenette, bathroom and garden area. We make every effort to make this area as comfortable and homely as possible for those families needing to use the Harebell. This includes regularly updating the area with soft furnishings, and electrical equipment etc. Your donation will go a long way in assisting us in providing these items.”
Vicky Bamford, Nursery Manager also said “We’re so pleased to have raised so much money for both these amazing causes!” The Dukinfield based nursery is situated on Jeffrey’s Drive in close proximity to the library and the local park. The nursery has been developed to provide each of our different age groups with separate areas that have stimulating colours running throughout, creating areas for children to explore and discover through play Opening times are 7:30am till 5:45pm Monday to Friday.
