Is there room on the broom?

A beautiful story about kindness and friendship came to life when the children, together with staff and parents from Active Learning Finchley Nursery and Preschool on Moss Hall Crescent, enjoyed a trip to a local theatre to watch a musical stage adaptation of ‘Room on a Broom’ by Julia Donaldson.

To the annoyance of her cat, a witch kindly allows a dog, a bird and a frog, who have helped her retrieve things she has lost, to ride on her broomstick. In return they all save her from being eaten by a fire-breathing dragon.

The Principal, Poppy Hinton, said: “Room on the Broom is a favourite children’s book which we read in our nursery many times, so when the opportunity came to take the children to see the actual show, we didn’t hesitate. Everybody enjoyed themselves and had a great time.”

“The story has a great rhythm and is easy for the children to follow. It teaches the children about friendship and sharing, and enhances imaginations and thinking skills. We’re going to build on this special experience with some craft and creative activities, to encourage the children’s awareness.”
