The children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Peterborough day nursery supported the Snowflake Appeal run by Home-Start UK – the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children – with a day of snowflake themed fundraising fun during the week of 30 November.
The nursery kicked off their week of snowy celebrations by decorating and donating a Christmas tree on behalf of the Salvation Army Charity Christmas festival.
The children helped to make snowflakes and other snow themed decorations that were placed on the tree and also then helped to deliver the Christmas tree. A charity box was left for people to make donations to Hone-Start UK.
During the week the children and staff also enjoyed decorating the nursery and making it as magical and festive as possible. A dress down pyjama day was held on the Thursday and everyone enjoyed being snuggly in their favourite PJs.
Snowflake Appeal merchandising such as enamel pin badges, gift tags and Christmas cards were also available to purchase from the nursery to help raise funds.
The Snowflake Appeal, which runs from 1 November to 31 January, is fronted by TV’s Kirstie Allsopp and was launched by Home-Start in 2013. Funds raised by the Snowflake Appeal help to ensure that Home-Start’s volunteers based at 300 centres around the UK have the training and support they need to continue to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
Emma Auston, Nursery Manager, said: “This year’s Snowflake Appeal was even better than last year and the children and staff all had a wonderful time. It is a great way to start the festive season while also raising funds for an extremely worthy cause. The children really enjoyed creating decorations for the charity tree and are now getting very excited at the thought that Christmas is coming.”
