Pupils in Year 2 at Culford Prep-Prep School made a large donation to the Storehouse Food Bank following their Harvest festival celebrations this month.
The 6 and 7 year-olds were invited to visit the food bank run by the West Suffolk Vineyard Church (WSVC) in Bury St Edmunds to make their donations in person and to find out more about the charity.
The Storehouse regularly provides bags of groceries to those in need in the local area, each containing a wide selection of items including dried and tinned foods, long life products and toiletries. The children had the opportunity to see how the project is run, where donated items are stored and how they are distributed.
Sarah Preston, Head of Culford Prep-Prep, said: “Culford’s donation to Storehouse made the children feel very lucky to have full tummies every day and food always available in their cupboards. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who donated so generously; it will undoubtedly be a huge help to those in need who live close to us.”
