Children from kidsunlimited Church Crookham day nursery on Redfields Lane dressed up as their favourite Disney characters and raised hundreds of pounds for their chosen charity, The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.
During two-day Disney extravaganza the nursery hosted a Tea Party, visited a garden centre and a local care home, where the residence were treated to a song ‘You’ve got a friend in me’ from Toy Story. One of the highlights during a sing-along session was a very special character appearance by the Queen Elsa, a character from the children’s favourite Disney film Frozen.
The Nursery Manager Gemma Lacey was very proud and said: “We created Disney themed activities for the children to have a fun and fundraise at the same time. Thanks to the generosity of our parents and the local community we have managed to raise £515.30 for our charity, The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children. We hope that by the end of the year we will hit our fundraising target of £1000.”
The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children is a registered charity, which was launched in 2005 with the specific aim of helping families and children in crisis, living in temporary accommodation or fleeing from domestic violence. By partnering with local community agencies, the Foundation has so far created 38 Bright Spaces, which are warm, safe, enriching places in homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, and other agency shelters for children and families to build caring relationships, heal from trauma through play, and to experience the joy of childhood.
