Bright Horizons to host Foundation Awareness Week

Nursery group Bright Horizons are to host a special awareness week to promote their award winning charity, The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children.

The week is set to take place between 12th-16th October, with all of the group’s nurseries and support offices taking part in what’s sure to be a fun-filled week. The aim of the week is to further enhance the profile of the Foundation to their families, clients, suppliers and bright together the local communities. The Bright Horizons Foundation for Children is a registered charity, which was launched in 2005 with the specific aim of helping families and children in crisis, living in temporary accommodation or fleeing from domestic violence. The need is great and the figures are shocking:

One woman in four will experience domestic violence in her lifetime: in 50% of cases the children of abused women are also directly abused (Refuge)

More than 90,000 homeless children in England are living in temporary accommodation (Why End Child Poverty Key Facts)

The Foundation supports those in need through their signature ‘Bright Space’ programme, which looks to create special spaces in rooms or outdoor areas that are used by families in times of need, such as domestic violence refuges, temporary housing provision or drop-in advice centres. By partnering with local community agencies, the Foundation has so far created over 30 Bright Spaces, which all help to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families in the UK and Ireland.

Tracy Wilkes-Green, Bright Horizons Foundation Manager, said, “We are delighted to be hosting a dedicated week to raise awareness of our amazing Foundation. At Bright Horizons, supporting children and families is at the heart of what we do and with the help of our partners we are able to make a real difference to the lives of the children and families in our local communities. We hope with the help of this week we can build on that.”
