The staff at Kiddi Caru’s Harlow day nursery saw World Vegetarian Day on Thursday 1st October as the perfect opportunity to show the children just how delicious vegetables and fruit can be.
They helped the children to make vegetable soup and also organised a fruit tasting event for them, which gave them the chance to try lots of different fruits and talk about their colour, taste and texture.
Vania Farinha, Nursery Manager, said: “Making nutritious food fun is so important for children at this age, as encouraging them to have healthy eating habits now gives them a good grounding for the future. The children enjoyed the fruit tasting and found some new favourites but they were especially excited about making and eating their own soup. This is a great activity for the autumn as there are so many delicious fresh veggies around.”
