A North East Nursery group has secured planning permission to build their twelfth nursery in Ashbrooke, Sunderland, investing £1.5 million into the build and employing 25 full-time staff.
The new nursery, which will be built and operated by the award-winning Kids 1st Nurseries, is planned to open in January 2016. Located on Gorse Road, the purpose-built nursery will have 108 places to provide childcare for children aged three months to five years.
Allison Winship, Head of Childcare, at Kids 1st, said: “We are delighted to be opening our twelfth nursery in Sunderland in what will be our twelfth year in business!
"This is a really exciting time for Kids 1st; we are opening three new nurseries in the North East over the next 18 months but Sunderland is particularly special to us as we have been looking for a location to build here for a while. We believe we have found the perfect site, the nursery is surrounded by lots of mature trees, perfect for exploring and outdoor play!
We have already started to make links with local organisations and including the Foundation of Light and we can’t wait to become part of the City of Sunderland.”
Since their first nursery was built in 2004 Kids 1st have established themselves as one of the leading childcare providers in the North East and the whole of the UK. They have been named the ‘Highest Quality Childcare Provider in the UK’ by Nursery World for four consecutive years.
Kids 1st Nurseries is a family run business with ten nurseries located across the North East. Outstanding features of the nurseries include bright spacious rooms, beautiful enclosed gardens that can be accessed from each room, nutritious home-cooked food, fingerprint entry systems, a dedicated pre-school and a coffee-to-go breakfast service for parents.
