Staff at Kiddi Caru’s Caldecotte day nursery were invited to bring their own children into work this week as part of a local High School’s work experience initiative.
Sophie, aged 14 enjoyed spending a day at the nursery working alongside her mum, Lisa. Sophie is hoping to enjoy a career in childcare so was fascinated to see what is involved in a job looking after young children on a day to day basis.
As part of the day, Sophie spent time with the children reading stories and enjoying creative arts activities.
Dawn Delaney, Nursery Manager, said: “As part of our supporting role within our local community it is important to us that we participate in this type of initiative. Young people thinking about their future careers need support, guidance and the chance to experience first hand what their chosen job could be like. After spending a day with us, Sophie now has a much better understanding of what a childcare job could involve as well as how she could go on to develop her skills further.”
