Stokenchurch annual sports day and barbeque

Every year the pre-school children do a range of things in preparation for our annual sports day. The children practice a range of activities twice a day along with all of the staff, including races, obstacle courses, relay races, egg and spoon races and jumping sack races. The children are divided into coloured teams red, blue, green and yellow. They put on their allocated coloured team t-shirt ready to begin our annual event. Mummies daddies, aunts, uncles, grandparents and siblings are all welcome to come and are all encouraged to participate in the sibling/ family race.

Our sports day is held at our local field so we all enjoy decorating the walk and then taking the children for a walk down to the field where we meet all of their families ready to watch them race.

All spectators will be given flags to support their children's coloured team and are encouraged to cheer as loud as they can for their children to give them the well deserved confidence boost, staff and families will help the children that are shy to avoid them missing out on the well rehearsed special event.

Once all of the races are complete the winning team is then presented with the winning trophy and every child is awarded a medal and certificate for taking part in our special day before moving back to the nursery to join the toddler room and the baby room for our family fun day. At the nursery we provide an excellent family fun day with lots of exciting things to get involved with such as a bouncy castle, face painting station, ice cream stall and BBQ fun.

Outside the main entrance is also our main attraction of the mobile farm with lots of fun animals for the children and families to feed and stroke. We have tortoises, Shetland ponies, guinea pigs, baby chicks, cockerels, chickens, goats, lambs and rabbits. The children loved to feed the tortoises cucumber and stroke the ponies.

A range of food is provided for everyone and our wonderful parents contribute a range of foods such as pasta salads, deserts, green salads etc. Great fun is had by all and we really do love getting to chat with our parents and extended family.
