As part of a long-term partnership, the children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Harlow day nursery is running a Family Week in support of Home-Start – the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children.
The Kiddi Caru Family Week will take place w/c 8th June 2015 and will be a celebration of all things family for example looking at families in different cultures and countries, family throughout the ages, famous real life and fictional families and even animal families.
As well as inviting members of families to visit to share their story time favourites with the children, parents, uncles, aunts, granddads and grandmas will also be coming in to talk about their job roles. Family pets will also be allowed to drop in – they are part of the family after all – and there will be cultural food tasting sessions so the children can share their family’s delicious traditional recipes with each other.
In addition, on 13th June the nursery will be holding a Family Fun Day extravaganza, complete with a bouncy castle, guess the weight of the cake competition, tombola, lucky dip, face painting and a raffle. There will be a visit from the local fire brigade in their fire engine, a show by Animalistic and fabulous BBQ managed by Churchgate Sausage Shop. All money raised on the day will be donated to the Home-Start charity. Home-Start is a national family support charity that helps parents to build better lives for their children. Volunteers provide support and friendship to more than 32,000 families every year.
Home-Start wants to see a society in which every parent has the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life.
Since the launch of the partnership last year Kiddi Caru has already raised almost £2000 on behalf of the charity.
Vania Farinha, Nursery Manager, said: “The idea of inclusion is very important to us at Kiddi Caru and we are looking forward to holding our Family Week as it is aimed at focusing on families and especially highlighting the fact that all families are different.
“The Family Week will culminate in a Fun Day which will not only help us raise funds for an extremely worthy cause, but also reinforces Home-Start and Kiddi Caru’s belief that every child is totally unique and in need of nurturing.”
