The staff at Kiddi Caru’s Taunton day nursery are keeping their fingers crossed after one of their team was shortlisted for an award.
Davina Simon a Practitioner at the nursery has been shortlisted for the NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association) 2015 Practitioner of the Year Award.
Such is Davina’s personality that she is a key carer to 16 children at present where the norm would be ten. The children at the nursery choose who they wish to be their key carer and so many of the children choose Davina as they love to be with her.
Davina works hard and takes a great interest in what the children do when they are not in nursery. She takes time to listen to what they have to say and to hear about what they have done at the weekend. She will then try to build activities around their interests.
Davina also helps children during their transition time when progressing from the 2-3 year olds room to the 3-5 year olds room.
Claire Blenkinsop, Nursery Manager, said, “Davina has been with us for eight years, working with all ages of children. She came to the nursery as a very shy student fresh from college and has since blossomed her way through day-to-day nursery life.
“Dedicated, bubbly and professional at all times, Davina has a great rapport with the parents and adapts to new situations easily so it comes as no surprise to me that Davina has been shortlisted for the NDNA’s Practitioner of the Year award.”
