The pre-school children at Young Sussex Nursery were in for a treat this week when they received a much anticipated visit from six feathered friends from Owls About Town.
The children were very excited about the unique opportunity to pet, fly and be up close and personal with some of the most majestic creatures in the world. They learnt interesting facts about the birds, their characteristics, and how to look after them. Owl feathers and pellets were examined closely by the little nature enthusiasts too.
Julia Cross, Group Manager at Young Sussex Nursery says; “The owl visit was a huge success, the children had a ‘hoot’ petting the owls and learning about these lovely creatures. We provide animal handling experiences throughout the year as part of our ongoing curriculum. These are genuinely unique learning experiences which really engage the children, capture their attention and spark an interest in nature and science.
Owls About Town’s visit contributes to us teaching the children about the world around them. We also have monthly music and movement classes, Asian cooking classes and regular visits from local professionals such as emergency services and healthcare professionals to further enhance our children’s learning and development.”
