The children at Kiddi Caru’s day nursery in Whiteley spent the day learning all about road safety recently, helped by their local Lollipop Lady, Alison Smart.
As well as creating their own road complete with traffic lights, road signs, crossings and lollipop, the children copied Alison as she led them through the correct way to cross the road. Some of the children took the roles of other road users, such as drivers and motorcyclists, and were stopped by Alison with her lollipop to let the other children cross the road.
Helen Tucker, nursery manager, said: “Road safety is a very important topic for us to cover as crossing the road is a day to day activity that the children need to undertake, so making them aware of the safest way to do it is vital. This not only helps them but also their parents and guardians. We were delighted that Alison could join us on the day and the children all listened very carefully to her talk about road safety.”
