The ‘elves workshop’ at Miles House Day Nursery in Bath has moved into full production with the arrival of a Christmas tree in need of decorations.
Parents and children will be creating their own at home while the festive spirit is clearly evident in each room at the nursery in Dunsford Place, Bathwick Hill, following weeks of crafting.
Deputy manager Holly Davies said the themed activities, which include creating hanging decorations with ‘dough’ moulds of children’s handprints, also includes singing songs and lots of discussion around Christmas traditions.
“Children like to know why we do things and what makes festivals like Diwali and Christmas so special. Capturing a child’s imagination and natural wonder is 'magic' at any time of the year but especially so at the moment,” she said, adding that staff were as excitable as the children at this time of the year.
Parents have been invited to make a decoration at home with their child for display on the nursery tree.
“It is a busy time for our parents but we wanted to create an opportunity for them to share the excitement of the season with their children. With wrapping paper and bows ready for gift-giving the process should be relatively easy and lots of fun,” said Holly.
