The whole of Kiddi Caru’s day nursery in Earls Court caught the baking bug this week, when the children in each of the rooms made lots of different types of bread.
The children helped to measure out and add ingredients and knead the dough. Some made white bread while others made wholemeal bread, and when it was baked to perfection all of the children were able to try the different types. The pre-school children also got to try out a bread making machine, which was brought to the nursery by Kiddi Caru’s Regional Manager Amanda Vardy.
Amanda said: “We found out that 17th November is National Bread Making Day, and while it’s mainly an American initiative we thought it sounded like a fun thing for the children to get involved with. They had a great time kneading the dough and were amazed that what they had made from just a few ingredients actually ended up as bread! It was a great way to help them learn about how the food they eat every day is made.”
