The children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Milton Keynes Walnut Tree day nursery is supporting the Snowflake Appeal 2014 run by Home-Start – the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children – with a week of snowflake themed fundraising fun.
As well as making marshmallow and spaghetti snowflakes, snowflake biscuits and marshmallow and rice crispy cakes throughout the week to sell to members of the public, the children will be designing snowflakes using rice and glitter, playing with shredded paper, shaving foam and glitter, enjoying ice play and being creative with white and glitter play dough. There will also be a range of craft activities including making paper snowflakes, cotton bud snowflakes, snowflake printing, snowflake chains and pipe cleaner snowflakes.
Snowflake Appeal merchandising such as enamel pin badges, stickers and message cards will also be available to purchase within the nursery.
The Snowflake Appeal, which runs from 1st November to 31st January, is fronted by TV’s Kirstie Allsop and was launched by Home-Start last year. Funds raised by the Snowflake Appeal help to ensure that Home-Start’s volunteers based at 300 centres around the UK have the training and support they need to continue to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
Lydia Evans, Nursery Manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this year’s Snowflake Appeal. Not only does the campaign raise funds for an extremely worthy cause, but also Home-Start chose this particular theme to emphasise how totally unique and in need of nurturing every child is – a philosophy with which we wholeheartedly agree.
“The children are very excited about having a whole week of Snowflake themed fun, I think they might even be looking forward to it more than the prospect of real snow this year!”
